Who We Are


Plastic Surgeons:

Thomas Cobley

     

BDS FDSRCPS MBChB FRCS (Ed) FRCS (Plast). Hospital Consultant plastic and cleft surgeon,  Specialist in Oral Surgery.

Thomas is a senior partner within the practice and is the principal at the Bristol Cosmetic Clinic.  Thomas as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon also has a special interest in cleft lip and palate and is one of the two cleft surgeons at Frenchay the regional plastic unit in Bristol. The Unit serves the surgical management of infants born with facial disharmonies for the South West.
At the practice Thomas leads the implant services provided by the practice and is also on the Specialist List in Oral Surgery.  Thomas remains committed to supporting the general services offered from our family run practice, maintaining a profile in most aspects of dentistry.  Toms hobbies are centred around canoeing and interested in antique clocks.

 

Oral Surgeons:

John Cobley

   

BDS FDSRCPS Specialist in Oral Surgery. Member of the Association for Dental Implantology, Member of the Society for the Advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry

Leaving the post of Senior Dental Officer in Portsmouth City, John became practice principal in 1997, and has overseen expansion of the practice to its current form.  Since John qualified from Newcastle University in 1991, he spent 3 years in specialist hospital training at several of the major oncology (cancer) and trauma units in the country.  John supports the dental implant and sedation services, in addition to managing the practice and his regular list of patients.  John’s hobbies are canoeing, flying gliders and Victorian architecture.

 

Richard Pilcher

 BDS FDSRCPS LMSSA FRCS (Glas) BSc(Hons)

 Specialist in Oral Surgery, Member of the Association for Dental Implantology, Member Society for the Advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry.

 

Richard is our lead clinician for providing intravenous sedation both for our own patient lists and for referral cases from neighbouring practices. He is Associate Specialist in the Oral and Maxillofacial Department at Yeovil District Hospital. His particular interests are in bone augmentation techniques for implant surgery and all aspects of oral surgery including wisdom tooth removal.  Richard has published widely, and presented on both the national and international stages.  Richard's hobbies are wind surfing and camping.

 

Anaesthetists

Nuala Dunne

   
MBChB FRCA

Dr Nuala Dunne graduated from Bristol University Medical School and went on to train in Anaesthetics in Plymouth, London, Denmark and Australia. She was appointed as Consultant in Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia and Intensive Care specialising in Paediatrics in 1990. She moved to Frenchay Hospital in 2001 where she has a broad experience in anaesthesia and intensive care for Neuro, Plastic and Spinal surgery for both adults and children. She brings a skillful and understanding approach to your pre, peri and post operative care.

 

Steve Sale

   

MBChB FRCA

Dr Steve Sale obtained his medical degree from Bristol University, graduating in 1993. After finishing University he spent his first two years training in General Medicine and began his specialist anaesthetic medical training in Southwest of England in 1995. During his training he spent a year in Christchurch Hospital (New Zealand) working closely with the plastic surgery department. After returning he pursued an academic interest in the physiological effects of anaesthesia and in 2003 was attached to the University of Bristol as a Clinical Research fellow. He completed his specialist training in 2005 and became an anaesthetic consultant at Frenchay Hospital specialising in plastic and burn surgery. In 2006 he worked for a year in the renowned Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne gaining valuable experience that included major cranio-facial surgery and cleft palate surgery in children. He returned to Bristol to continue his Consultant post at Frenchay Hospital (one of the Southwest's specialist plastic surgery centres). He has written a number of scientific articles and book chapters on a variety of anaesthetic topics including the treatment of acute pain and the effect of anaesthetic agents on children's brainwaves. His other professional interests include medical education and medical infomatics - he is a member of a national action team associated with the Department of health's 'Connecting for Health' national IT program. He is married with two small children and his interests include a variety of outdoor sports including road cycling, triathlons and mountain marathons.
